The Advanced Choir consists of auditioned seventh and eighth grade boys and girls. The students meet both during and after school for rehearsals and sectionals. Every student participates in solo and ensemble, Region choir auditions, pre-UIL and UIL choir competitions, a choir festival in the spring as well as the three concerts given throughout the year.

On Saturday October 9th, several SOMS Choir students participate in the distric Solo/Ensemble Contest.

The students were asked to sing a solo from memory for a judge. The students were then ranted by the judge on a scale of One to Five, One being the highest score. Some students also received the special honor of Outstanding Performance, for distinguishing them selves by giving a performance of exceptionally good quality.
